Disscusion Questions for Chapters 21- 28
1. Why do you think the author constantly changes the time in which the story takes place?
2. What do you think about Marie's decision to marry Joe Cantelli? Do you think that Hana has the right to be mad at her decision? P. 175
3. Why was Dr. Kaneda arrested by the FBI and taken in for questioning? Do you think that thier reason wa justifiable? P. 184
4. Do you believe that Mary really wanted to have her parents stay with her and Joe, or did she want them to go to the internment camp? Why? Do you think that Hana and Taro made the right decisions? P. 188
5. How do you think that all of the recent events, such as the camp, the selling of his shop, and the death of Henry, have affected him? How have they affected Hana?
I don't think Hana has the right to be mad at her because she did the same thing to her mom in Japan. But I guess her part is understandable because Mary's choice wasn't planned and her mother had no clue that she was going to run away.
