Ch. 6-20

Why do you think the baby died? (p. 77)

How did the superintendent get himself in so much debt? (p. 93)

Do you think leaving to Japan was the right thing to do? (keep in mind he has a wife to support)

Why does Mr. Nishima, the assistant, put the blame on himself for the loss of the money?

Do you think he has anything to do with it?

  1. The baby died because Hana had gotten the flu when she went to visit Yamaka.
    The Superintendent probably got himself into so much debt because he could not make enough to support his family and the bills they had to pay.
    I dont necessarily think it was the right or wrong thing to do, it all depended on the situation, but it was wrong to take money from the church and betray those that had trusted him.
    Nishima puts the blame on himself because he was also in charge of the sunday school and its finances.
    I do not beleive Nishima had anything to do with it since he had no control over the superintendent's actions.
